As if the overtly cheery, festive music in every retail store and the falling snow wasn’t enough to remind you - the winter gift-giving holidays are right around the corner! (Or, in the case of Hanukkah, is presently in our midst.) Perhaps you’re stumped about what to get for that special Nerd Girl who has everything, or maybe you’re just looking for a few extra stocking stuffers to add in with the big lump of coal. Whatever your gift-giving predicament, I’ve done some of the legwork for you. Below, you can see a list that I’ve compiled with some unique suggestions sure to tickle her fancy. And to top it all off, I’ve even thought of tight budgets - each suggestion is moderately priced at $65 or under!
Don’t forget to check and see what each seller’s shipping timeline and policies; you don’t want to end up disappointed if your perfect gift doesn’t arrive in time! If you’re unsure, try sending the seller a quick message to ask. In my experience, most online stores (especially Etsy sellers) are willing to do rush shipping for a little extra and it certainly doesn’t hurt to ask!

I’m in love with this amazing Doctor Who TARDIS dress ($26, Raygun Robyn). It looks very comfortable, it’s versatile and the design is top-notch. I think it would look great with bright pair of stockings and some kick-ass boots. Instant nerd-chic and ready to travel in time and space! The same design is also available in t-shirts, or on a messenger bag.

I serendipitously stumbled upon Brad Collin’s work one day on Tumblr and now I’m a fan. I think I may have laughed out loud when I saw his Han & Chewie Poster ($40, Brad Collins) featuring every Star Wars nerd’s favourite sound effect. Be sure to check out his other cute fandom-related art prints as well, “Bite Me / You Suck” gets my vote for hilarity’s sake.

Thought mobiles were just for nurseries? Think again. Check out this amazing Half-Life Inspired Mobile ($36, Salty and Sweet). This would be a great decor enhancement to any video gaming area. Other noteworthy product choices from Salty and Sweet include the zombie-themed “Braaains” and “Mario Evolution”. I can imagine that these all cast awesome shadows.

In case you missed the original (now sold-out) printings of The Guild (issues 1-3), it is now available in trade paperback (Dark Horse, $13). Written by the web series’ creator, Felicia Day, it features the previously untold story of Cyd Sherman’s journey into MMO addiction and the creation of her avatar, Codex. The story echoes the show’s often awkward humour, and as it is a prequel is enjoyable to fans and n00bs alike.

Okay, most of us have probably at least a dropped a few bills on Harry Potter related merchandise and J.K. Rowling doesn’t really need more money that she already has. So for the witch or wizard on your list, I’d suggest a sensible set of beautifully printed Owl Post Stationery (Celeste Frittata, $16). Alternatively, you could opt for the equally lovely (and useful) Ultimate Book of Spells 2011 weekly planner.

Forever banish all stereotypes of table top gamers smelling like dank basement, with a little help from Magic Missile and Fireball d20 soap (Think Geek, $9). Work up a lather with these yummy soaps and then use the die hidden inside to role some natural 20s in-game.

This Star Trek Insignia Natural Slate Coaster Set (Blyth House Creations, $25) is rocking. (The pun was very much intended). I’m sure they’ll do just the trick for resting a cup of “tea, Earl Grey, hot” upon.

…And if none of these other suggestions worked out and you’re still searching for the purrrrfect gift for the deliciously divine feline in your life, you can’t got wrong with this stunning Classic 1966 Catwoman Style necklace (Benae Quee, $65), inspired by the one worn by Julie Newmar in the classic Batman TV show of the era. It’s the cat’s meow, darling.
