The Nerd Mafia -- I mentioned this group last week, but this week I'm going to share all of the interviews I did (with some help) at the Nerd Mafia promo party. The Nerd Mafia's primary objective is cross-promotion and collaboration, and the Nerd Mafia promo party was an ideal opportunity to interview a lot of people in one go.
Hosted by Andrew Uys (www.uysfaber.com), June 5th was an absolutely gorgeous day -- perfect for hanging out in the backyard with a keg and a BBQ. I got there at around 2pm and didn't leave until 11... it was quite an adventure. There are some entertaining videos posted on the Nerd Mafia YouTube page, too.
J.M. Frey - Author of Triptych
We've already reviewed J.M.'s book (here), but I thought I would ask a bit more about her experiences with the publishing industry. J.M. also shares some exciting news, and gives some advice to budding authors. J.M. agrees to interview Adrienne Kress for me later.
Alice Quinn - TDotComics
TDotComics is Alice Quinn's brainchild and focuses on comics and nerdy events in Toronto (you know.. the T Dot!). Alice is quite literally everywhere and has some of the best event coverage we've seen. I later convince Alice to interview Will Perkins for me.
Emily Ragozzino - Writer/artist for Tom Boy Tara
Emily writes and draws Tom Boy Tara, a webcomic about... well.. a tom boy named Tara.. and she was nominated for an Aurora award. She's often found at Paradise Comics on Free Comic Book Day.
Will Perkins - Editor-in-chief of Dork Shelf
Will Perkins, interviewed for me by the lovely Alice Quinn. Will is the head cheese for Dork Shelf, which reviews all kinds of media -- comics, TV, movies, games and more. Apologies for the din -- it was a pretty kickin' party!
Emily Schooley, Actor
Emily is one busy lady. If it's not filming, she's writing.. or performing! (Later, she helps me interview, too.)
Adrienne Kress, Actor/Author
J.M. was kind enough to interview Adrienne on my behalf. Adrienne is another busy lady, who has published two children's books already and will be releasing a YA Steampunk novel very soon.
Jaclyn Armstrong, Writer for Salt Road
Jaclyn writes for Salt Road, and at the tender age of 17, she's well on her way to achieving her dreams. Emily Schooley interviews for me.
If you've checked out the Nerd Mafia YouTube page, you would have seen the impromptu fight scenes between Katherine Curtis, Kenickie Street and others. Crazy things happen when you put a bunch of nerds together.
