Nerdiest obsession: Art

Wastes way too much time on: crafting and the internet

Hates with the fiery passion of a thousand suns: people who say “pwn”, injustice

Favourite female nerd: Barberella

Favourite male nerd: David X Cohen

Secretly collects: Boys

Most embarrassing nerd related memory: I’m never really embarrassed about my nerdity, if someone doesn’t get a reference they don’t get it.

Wanted to be ____ when you grew up: a Marine Biologist

Biggest nerdy triumph: Getting a Borg to draw Wolverine for me and being on good terms with someone who knows the man himself (Lucas)…but I’m not saying who

Nerdy line that makes you swoon: “you’re pretty..pretty” –Simon Tam

Top 5 sites visited daily: ffffound.com, facebook, gmail, flickr, twitter

Top 5 things everyone should check out asap: thisiswhyyourefat.com, the uniform project, ffffound.com, Clare and the Reasons (band)

Anything else to add?  I nerd out about so many things it’s hard to keep track, but it doesn’t always make sense.  I love Star Wars and Star Trek, I love Joss Whedon, but won’t watch Dollhouse.  I also get really revved up over good design, illustration, fashion, handbags, knitting, crafts…yeah I can go on.

Books

Fave book(s): The Jungle, Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, A Wind in the Door
Fave author(s): Upton Sinclair, Madeline L’Engle
Most disappointing "based on the novel" film: Matilda, Narnia (the new ones, I thought the old British one was great)

Book you'd love to see made into a film: I really like keeping books the way they are in my head.

Most impactful book/author: The Chronicles of Narnia really hit me as a youth.  I cried so hard at the end.

First book you ever read: The Pokey Little Puppy?  I forget. I used to go to bed looking over medical journals and books about animals and evolution.

First book that made you REALLY like reading: The first book I was proud to finish was Matilda by Roald Dahl.  It was the longest book I’d read at the time

Currently reading: Just Finished Watership Down, might start on the Hitchhiker’s books again

Video Games

Fave game(s): Final Fantasy 7, Super Mario Brothers 3, Rockband
Fave character(s): Cloud Strife, Vincent Valentine, Luigi

Spent way too much time playing: anything Final fantasy
Most disappointing ending in a game: Katamari Damacy, it just kinda ends, then you can keep playing forever…meh  (still love it though)

First game ever played: Super Mario Brothers
Currently playing: new Super Mario Brothers for DS (slowly)

Art

Fave artist(s): Andy Warhol, Chuck Close, Joss Ellingson, Mark Rothko, Harvey Chan, Julia Breckenried, Kurt Halsey
Fave artistic era/period: Pop Art/Modern Art/Expressionism
Fave piece/work: that’s a tough one.  Any Rothko can take my breath away…but I just love art
Fave medium(photography/painting/drawing/etc): Drawing and Painting
Top 5 must sees: Manet’s Olympia, any Rothko, Jeff Koons’ Sculpture “Michael Jackson and Bubbles”, Chuck Close “Big self Portrait”, Modigliani “Reclining Nude”, Photographys by Andy Warhol
Last show/exhibit seen: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: illustrations by Harvey Chan, Jose Ortega and Johny Deluna

Comics

Fave TPB(s): Watchmen (if that counts),  anything Jeffery Brown, Kingdom Come, Dark Knight Returns
Fave single issue: I haven’t bought single issues in a long while.  One of the first single issues I ever purchased was Nightstalkers Midnight massacre
Fave Character(s): Batman, Wolverine, Morbius, The Maxx, Hellboy
Fave storyline(s): Weapon X, Rise of the Midnight Sons

Fave 'verse(s): I really can’t choose (I’m partial to indie books), but my love of batman leans me towards DC

Fave Artist/Inker(s): Cameron Stewart, Ramon Perez, Mike Mignola, Sam Hiti, and Craig Thompson to name a few
Fave writer(s): Mike Mignola Frank Miller, Jeffery Brown
First comic book ever read: it’s either X-Babies or some random Midnight Sons book

Currently reading: Rereading Kingdom Come…again

Fave actor/actress: Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, Nicholas Cage, Billy West

Most inspiring film(s): Royal Tenenbaums, Everything is Illuminated

Biggest cinematic letdown: Spiderman 3, Watchmen

First film ever seen: Aladdin maybe?  It’s the first one I remember seeing in the theatres…

Last film you watched: Blade Trinity…I have a thing for bad movies…I kinda love them…a lot

Fave film news site: IMDB baby

Music

Fave band(s): New Pornographers, They Might be Giants, Weezer, The Impossibles, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Beatles (obviously), Queen, Bowie, Cake, The pixies…on and on…

Fave musician(s): George Harrison, Johnny Greenwood, Tom Brislin, David Byrne, David Bowie

Fave singer(s): Bobby Darin, Robert Goulet

Fave album(s): The Bends, Pinkerton, The Blue album, Twin Cinema….

Best concert/Best band to see live: I’ve been to so many great ones…being front row at the Cramps was insane, Seeing OKGO then going backstage because I knew the opening band was awesome, Seeing the Cribs at some DJ party in LA was rad.  I’ve seen lots.  I’ve got stories to tell.

Worst concert/Worst band to see live: Worst concert was a random Detroit show to see a local band that doesn’t exist anymore.  I didn’t know that 6 bands were playing before the band I wanted to see…the ONLY band I wanted to see. It was a long horrible night of subpar garage pop/punk bands and harsh mediocre metal.
First concert: Fastball, Sugar Ray and the GooGoo Dolls…I think I was 14

Currently hooked on: Miles Fisher, Clare and the Reasons, And getting heavy into Talking Heads again.
