I knew I wanted to be a writer when I was twelve. Though, to be fair, I also wanted to be an astronaut, an environmentalist and a veterinarian. It was around that same time that I discovered “adult” books and eagerly consumed every piece of science fiction, fantasy and horror in my father’s vast collection. Science fiction in particular is close to my heart, so most of my reviews will focus on that genre.
Much to my surprise, I actually did become a writer, though not in the way I had originally imagined. The game design documents, technical manuals and propaganda I’ve written are a far cry from those early attempts at poetry. Still, the last four years or so have given me an interesting insight into the world of gaming, and I’ll be sharing some of that here, as well.
Much of my perspective has been shaped by my experiences around the world. I went to three different kindergartens, lived in five countries in four continents and have moved sixteen times in the last twenty-five years. I’ll be writing about some of the intriguing people and strange things that I’ve encountered in my travels.
If I had to define the type of nerd I am, the closest would be an information nerd. I collect reference books and useless information, and generally kick ass at Trivial Pursuit. My next great obsession is yarn -- I have an entire closet full. Crochet is my craft of choice, and I love making unique scarves, hats, blankets and critters. Baby Cthulhu commands you!
